Claire, our tester, was impressed with the packaging. It was simple to open and clean. She found it to be one of the most simple and quick pieces of baby equipment to assemble. She took it to explore the rough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.
Seats
The majority of triple buggies begin life as single pushchairs, although some can convert to take an additional seat or carrycot with adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). You'll also find that some models will allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk, but need a little help.
Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It's easy to maneuver, and it has a large basket that is full of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats are required to be oriented forward and there's no room for a shopping bag underneath and you'll need a sidepack for that.
If you're looking to take off-road trips then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side-by-side with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to pass through doors with narrow openings and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs with no trouble. The adjustable handlebar has an integrated handbrake to increase security and safety.
Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used to accommodate twins or a baby and toddler. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun out of your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack" board for older children.
The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most sought-after available. This is due to their outstanding comfort. It's a true all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension that can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating options, a built-in board for older children who like walking, and a "cinema mode that raises the back seats for better visibility.
Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a great single buggy from the beginning that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is particularly helpful if you have an infant in a car seat, as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie that allows for optimal lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters to a wider range of brands.
Suspension
The quality of the suspension on a 3-wheel double buggy is crucial to how it is easy for you and your child to push. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride as babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially the case if you're driving on rough terrain like grass or roads that are not paved. Some models have locking front tires to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Certain models have air-filled tyres that give you a great all-terrain adventure, but they could be susceptible to punctures, so ensure you have spares in the trunk. Some models have gel-filled or foam-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, but they could be uncomfortable for your child if they decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 with her toddler and newborn and found it exceptionally adept on terrains that are difficult to traverse. "It was able to effortlessly navigate sidewalks and grass cobbles, dirt, and tracks and was easy for me to navigate around corners and get up or down kerbs." The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, make it an extremely comfortable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a lot of features, such as large seats with padded cover and hood that offers 50+ UV protection and rechargeable and easy-to use visibility lights.
Folding
A 3-wheel double buggy can fold up very easily to store it. You can find options that fold flat and stand up (as as if they're in a pushchair position) and also ones that pop out to reveal a more umbrella-style fold with an electric brake. In general, the more wheels a buggy comes with, the easier it will be to navigate on rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability, and it is less likely that you will need to flip or tip your child.
The iCandy Wave is a popular choice. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car-seat from birth, and later converted into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is older. It is a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and rain cover.
The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is a future-proof model as it is brilliant as a buggy, and can be modified to accommodate two (or three!) All of this is incorporated into its compact footprint. It features a clever three-wheel design with a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.
If you want to jog with your kids it is the best double buggies to jog with as it comes with a lockable swivel front wheel that can help you keep your balance when you're on off-road or hilly tracks. It has a large undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension to provide a comfortable ride.
It's a lightweight and compact option that can be folded with one hand and is perfect for traveling. 3 wheeler pushchair with an extensive selection of infant car seats and has an undercarriage basket that can be pulled out that can be used to stash shopping. It's on the costly side, but has several notable features that make it an excellent value choice, including its easy one-click fold and a host of other features including a bumper bar and raincover.
Stores
One thing that many people appreciate about a good 3-wheel double buggy is the storage capacity. Some models like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket as well as two handy zip pockets in the hood that keep your keys and phone within easy reach. It's also designed to handle slightly rough terrain making it a good choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.
Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of room and the flexibility to transport twins or two toddlers and a child. (This is possible thanks to their 'PiggyBack board'). It's the slimmest side-by-side double available and it comes with some amazing technology that includes game-changing LED visibility lights that change on each side of the frame to improve safety in low light conditions.
The Joie Evalite Duo, a lightweight stroller that can hold twins from birth and is a world-facing stroller with a lie-flat reclining position, is something different. The frame's clever design expands to allow for an additional seat, yet it weighs only 11kg. This makes it simple to move and lift. It can be used with an infant car seat, a carrycot, or both. This lets you get the best of all worlds.
